Art and Design at Whiteknights allows all pupils to develop a love of creativity through different medias. Pupils will be taught about different artists and their influence on art itself. Pupils start with paint and print in Early Years and progress through the school to finger painting in Year Three and Pointillism in Year Six. Pupils are taught how to use and manipulate clay from making animal structures in Year Two to Georgia O’Keefe inspired tiles in Year five, as well as other medias. Pupils will use their understanding of artists' work to influence their own designs. They will use their designs to create a final piece that will be built up through their own research with media.
Art encourages the pupils to link their skills from Maths and English into their work; each topic will link to other areas of learning and allow them to develop their creativity.
