On this page of our website we will keep you informed of developments to the PE curriculum, as well as keeping you up-to-date with PE events our children have taken part in. Please see below the PE curriculum our children will be following.
At Whiteknights School all children regularly enjoy being active and learning through sport and physical activity. All pupils throughout the school have two hours of P.E. a week including gymnastics, athletics, outdoor activities and skills based games lessons. Key Stage 2 pupils also swim and take part in outdoor adventurous activities. All children have the opportunity to take part in inter-house competitions at the end of each skills unit.
We offer a variety of lunchtime and after school clubs run by qualified coaches. When the children reach Year 6 they have the opportunity to become sports leaders which encourages the children to develop skills in responsibility and leadership.
We strive to develop a positive attitude to health and fitness which enables the pupils to acquire the physical skills necessary to enjoy and participate in a range of activities including competitive team sport. We are proud of the number of children who represent Whiteknights School in sporting festivals with other local schools throughout the year.
We aim to help the children develop a ‘life long’ love of sport and to discover their preferences, abilities and aptitudes which will help them make choices about maintaining a level of physical activity throughout their lives.
