National Support School
What is a National Support School
A National Support School is a school in which the headteacher has been designated a National Leader of Education by the Department for Education. This designation not only recognises the excellence in leadership at all levels, but also the expertise of teachers within the school. All teachers at Whiteknights Primary School are Specialist leaders of Education.
What is a National Leader of Education (NLE)?
National Leaders of Education (NLEs) are outstanding Headteachers who, together with other specialists, use their knowledge and experience to support schools in challenging circumstances. In addition to leading their own schools, NLEs work to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards.
NLEs can be deployed in a number of ways and each deployment can be tailored to suit the needs of the school receiving support. You should consider engaging an NLE if you want to improve performance of your school, the curriculum, behaviour, governance, financial management and develop capacity. They will meet with the headteacher and senior staff from your school to discuss the challenges you face and what help is needed. Any planned work will be tailored in partnership with you.
