Bridget Phillipson Recognises Whiteknights for Impact on Disadvantaged Pupils

30th January 2026
Whiteknights Primary School has received a letter of congratulations from Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, recognising the school’s exceptional outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in the 2024/25 academic year.
The letter was sent to schools in the top 25 per cent nationally based on outcomes for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. In her message, the Secretary of State praised Whiteknights for being “among the very best nationally”, highlighting the dedication of staff alongside the hard work and commitment shown by pupils. She noted that these outcomes demonstrate “what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together.”
This national recognition reflects Whiteknights’ unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, is supported to thrive academically, socially and personally. It is a powerful endorsement of the school’s high expectations, inclusive practice and values-led culture rooted in challenge, wonder and aspiration.
In the most recent published results, 95% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths at the end of Year 6, which is 33 percentage points above the national average. Importantly, 83% of pupils eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant also met the expected standard in combined Reading, Writing and Maths, significantly exceeding the national average of 47% for disadvantaged pupils.
These results highlight the impact of carefully targeted support, high-quality teaching and a school culture that believes deeply in equity and excellence for all. They reflect the collective efforts of staff, pupils and families working together to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to succeed.
We are incredibly proud of our staff and pupils for their continued focus on excellence and fairness. This recognition is a moment to celebrate what has been achieved – and to reaffirm our commitment to continuing to grow greatness at Whiteknights Primary School.
