BPET Berkshire Queen's Gambit Chess Tournament Ignites Passion for Chess

20th March 2024

Fantastic news for all our chess masters this week as Whiteknights hosted the BPET Berkshire Queen's Gambit Chess Tournament in collaboration with CSC (Chess in Schools and Communities).

It was an exciting event held right here at Whiteknights Primary and we were well-represented with not one, but two teams competing in the tournament.

Team A, comprising the Top 6 players from our in-house tournament, delivered a stellar performance, clinching the top spot and emerging as the champions of the tournament. Their strategic moves and focus secured them a well-deserved victory. Not to be outdone, the B Team, exhibited remarkable skill, securing a commendable 2nd place in the tournament.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the participants from Rivermead and Evendons – our fellow BPET family schools. Their sportsmanship and enthusiasm contributed to the success of the event, fostering a sense of camaraderie among all participants.

This tournament not only showcased the talent of all three schools but also highlighted the importance of chess in promoting critical thinking, problem-solving and sportsmanship. We are immensely proud all the pupils' achievements and look forward to more opportunities to excel in the world of chess.

Congratulations to all the participants, and here's to many more successful tournaments in the future!
