Celebrating World Book Day: Embracing the Magic of Reading

8th March 2024

Today, Whiteknights celebrated World Book Day with great enthusiasm and joy. Pupils and staff alike embraced the occasion by dressing up as their favourite book characters, adding a vibrant splash of color and creativity within our school walls.

As a school, our passion for reading remains unwavering. We believe in the transformative power of literature to ignite imaginations, broaden horizons, and instill a lifelong love of learning.

Did you know - it's not just within our own walls that we champion literacy? Whiteknights is proud to serve as an English Hub, one of only 34 in the country appointed by the Department for Education (DFE). Tasked with supporting other schools in the vital responsibility of teaching children to read, we are honoured to play a role in promoting literacy and educational excellence beyond our own classrooms.

As an English Hub, we are committed to sharing best practices, providing government funding, and empowering educators to inspire a lifelong love for reading in their students. To find out more about our English Hub and the important work we do, please visit our hub website

We look forward to continuing to inspire a love of reading in all our pupils and those we support across the wider educational landscape.
