Science

Our Science Quest at Whiteknights starts our pupils on the exciting journey of exploring the ‘Big Ideas’ in science, which encompass the strands of biology, physics and chemistry.

We recognise the skills and knowledge in science are important to help children understand the world around them both now and in the future. Our aim is for children to develop their natural sense of curiosity and develop scientific ways of thinking.

At Whiteknights, pupils:

  • explore a diverse range of key scientists and the scientific methods used and developed by them
  • use appropriate scientific vocabulary
  • ask and answer scientific questions
  • carry out investigations that involve the enquiry skills of comparative/fair testing; research; observation over time; pattern seeking; identifying, groups and classifying; and problem solving.

We provide our pupils with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the concepts in science by attending a week in our Science Lab, taking part in the weekly science club for upper

KS2 and going on a range of school trips to places of interest to study science.
