Year 3 visit the Living Rain Forest

Year 3 had a brilliant visit to The Living Rainforest in Newbury on Tuesday. This trip perfectly complimented our learning about plants. The fabulous tour guides taught us all about how plants adapt to live in the hot, wet rainforest environment. Amazingly, we saw a ‘waterproof’ plant that has adapted to ensure any water falls off the leaves and goes down to the plants’ roots. Moreover, we learnt that some leaves have a ‘drip tip’ to allow water to trickle down the leaves and drip off. How fascinating! Year 3 were very excited to see a range of curious creatures in the glasshouses such as a sloth, iguana and monkeys. What an excellent day!
